The importance of education

I read an interesting article on the Jewish people and why they became bankers and merchants instead of remaining farmers.

The gist of the article is that unlike popular belief, the Jews did not abandon farming because, at certain points in history, they were not allowed to own land. Basically, because of the demise of their temple in 70 AD their religion evolved from relying on just a few religious leaders to tell them how to act, to their actually being spread out across a lot of geographic locales and because of this, they evolved into fathers sending their children to school so that they could read their written Torah.

It is an interesting theory and you can read the whole article here if you wish:

If this theory is correct, it certainly substantiates the value of education with almost 2000 years of “proof.”
